NOx Exceedence - Deactivation of EGR

The engine is emitting more nitrogen oxides (NOx) than the regulations allow, so the vehicle has disabled the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system as a safety measure. The EGR system normally reduces emissions by recirculating some exhaust back into the engine, but disabling it indicates an emissions control problem. The vehicle is polluting more than allowed and likely needs repair to pass emissions testing.
